Μεταξύ των καινοτομιών της φετινής διοργάνωσης, το CYIFFαπευθύνει ανοικτή πρόσκληση, όχι απαραίτητα σε επαγγελματίες, αλλά σε όλους εσάς που νιώθετε την ίδια αγάπη με την διοργάνωση για τον κινηματογράφο, εφόσον το επιθυμείτε να συμμετέχετε στην Κριτική επιτροπή!

Επιδιώκουμε έτσι την σύσταση μιας ανεξάρτητης επιτροπής με στόχο την ελεύθερη, ανεπηρέαστη, με αγνά κριτήρια αξιολόγηση, των διαγωνιζόμενων ταινιών.

Greeting by the Mayor of Pafos – Xαιρετισμός Δημάρχου Πάφου

Η Πάφος, ως κληρονόμος μιας πλούσιας και βαριάς πολιτιστικής παράδοσης και ως εκφραστής μιας σύγχρονης και παραγωγικής καλλιτεχνικής δραστηριότητας, βιώνει καθημερινά την ανάγκη για αναβάθμιση και εμπλουτισμό του πολιτιστικού της προϊόντος.

Η ανάγκη αυτή καθίσταται ακόμη πιο επίκαιρη κι ακόμη πιο επιτακτική σήμερα που η Πάφος έχει αναλάβει τη βαριά ευθύνη, αλλά και τη μεγάλη τιμή, να εκπροσωπήσει τη χώρα μας σε έναν από τους σημαντικότερους ευρωπαϊκούς θεσμούς: Αυτόν της Πολιτιστικής Πρωτεύουσας της Ευρώπης για το 2017.

Είναι με το πνεύμα αυτό που πρόθυμα αποδεχτήκαμε την πρόταση των διοργανωτών του Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Κινηματογράφου Κύπρου να εντάξουμε τον καταξιωμένο αυτό θεσμό στις ετήσιες εκδηλώσεις του Δήμου Πάφου, με προοπτική να διεξαχθεί το 12ο Φεστιβάλ στο πλαίσιο της Πολιτιστικής Πρωτεύουσας. “CYIFF-Hollywood Scriptwriting Workshop”, 12-14 September 2014 @ Pafos, Cyprus

The acclaimed Hollywood producer Mitchell Peck will instruct a workshop how to develop a screenplay according to the standards of the movies of Hollywood studios.

The top five (5) developed screenplays in “CYIFF-Hollywood Scriptwriting Workshop” will be sent to the Studios in L.A. after the workshop and CYIFF will get the feedback.

Cyprus International Film Festival (CYIFF) takes place annually, under the umbrella of CINE@ART FESTIVALS network, on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Cyprus. The festival is a non profit organisation and it was inaugurated on March 23, 2006 by the Cypriot Minister of Education and Culture Mr Pefkios Georgiades.
The festival was held Under the Auspices of the Municipality of Nicosia since 2013.
Since 2014 the festival is held Under the Auspices of the Municipality of Pafos.

The Cyprus International Film Festival is the biggest of artistic high value independent cinema event of the whole region, spilling over Cyprus boundaries and spreading over the whole region with repercussions reaching worldwide. CΥIFF is the first internationally oriented film festival which offers new and upcoming directors in multiple sectors of entertainment (such as feature films, short films, animations, music videos, dance, experimental films and video art) the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a jury of internationally acclaimed cinema experts, directors and actors. CYIFF has a competitive section. Films produced the last 36 months, by emerging directors are selected for the screening program.

CYIFF promotes both Cypriot film directors and Cypriots artists living abroad through the film category “Nostimon Imar” and awarded Cypriot Film Directors, as well as the history of Cyprus. The festival and the parallel events create an important meeting place for Cypriots and foreign filmmakers. The prize “Golden Aphrodite” is being judged by a distinguished panel of experts in the international film industry.

The CΥIFF – Cyprus International FilmFestival is the brainchild of a group of dedicated volunteer individuals, event organizers, film producers, cinema experts, multimedia and audio visual specialists.

The first artistic director of the festival, the Greek Phaedon Papamichael, production designer of the films of John Cassavetes, laid the foundations of the institution with an emphasis on the new opportunities offered to Greek filmmakers for international distinction and visibility. In 2011 the first greek film which won the Golden Aphrodite Award is the first shown director of TUNGSTEN George Georgopoulos.

Since 2013, the International Film Festival of Cyprus cooperates with the “Festival of New Talent – The Performance of your Life!” and presents alongside the cinema rising stars, music, dance and theatrical performances of emerging artists in cooperation with professional schools and recognized artists in Cyprus and abroad.
